PLEASE HELP ASAP! What's this little thing that came with my brake pads?

It's like a "backing plate"? Am I supposed to use it? I didn't have them on their before, but when I bought these new brakes today, they were in the box with them. It looks like a shim maybe for the brake pads...Thanks!

Looks like it is too late as you already have another post that everything is ok. Those little pads go on the back of the brake pad are are to keep noise down. They work so-so. I prefer the disc brake quiet that you spray on the back of the pad and it is usually blue in color.

I used that little "Anti-Squeal" Gel.
