Back in the Saddle

After an eight year hiatus, I finally have another old chevy. In high school I had a two tone '72 c20, after that a '70 swb with a big block. I sold it when we were expecting our first kid. Anyway I don't have any tech to add at the moment, I'm just excited to show off my new purchase. It's a '69 GMC with no engine or title but $200 seemed like a good deal for a short bed pickup. Rust is minimal and it comes with an extra stepside bed but it is for a '73 and up. My intention is to make it a DD six months out of the year with a 5.3, discs, and about a 4" drop. First I need to figure out how to get it titled...

Re: Back in the Saddle

I was trying to find a 50's truck, but none seemed to have titles. Ended up (happily) with a 68 C20.

I see there is a plate on it. A DMV search may find an old owner that could do a lost title application. Or, there are some services that for around $200, can get you a title (generally through a state with easier titling laws).

I haven't tried them, but have heard they work.

Good luck with the project.

Re: Back in the Saddle

I'll keep an eye out on craigslist for somebody parting out a truck with a title and buy the cab. I'd love it if it somehow became a '72 chevy.

Re: Back in the Saddle

I haven't started wrenching yet, but I've acquired more crap. Today I bought a '72 cheyenne super with a bad transmission for $500. For some reason it doesn't have a tach dash. I thought all the "supers" had tachs, oh well. The plan is to put the '72 cab and five lug stuff on the short frame. To cap off the day I also bought a 5.3 with the ecm, harness, dbw pedal, etc. with 50k miles.
