Re: what kinds of Buckets you guys got

this ought to be interesting. im currently going from one of those nice plush custom truck seats to some free buckets from a 88 camry. just want something lower to the floor to match the 11" steering wheel i got to compensate for not having tilt. easy part is pretty much done for me though ( i hope). the current seat has a rack that runs all the way across and has individual sliders some im gonna reuse all that and just make some plates to mount the seats to those racks should still gain at least 3' of headroom. ill post pics soon as i can tommorrow. shouldnt take the whole day i hope.

Re: what kinds of Buckets you guys got

I have the thought pretty often to go to buckets, but I have 2 young kids and usually have my wife and 1 of the kids if we go out. I want to have the option to take both kids from time to time too. So, my bench will remain.

Re: what kinds of Buckets you guys got

I have buckets out of a Chrysler Sebring convert. I wanted the integrated seatbelts, and these were the only ones I could find that would fit without modifying the floor. I made a frame to mount them, utilizing the existing bench seat holes. More than likely, I will be going to a bench, if I can ever find one with good cushions for cheap. The truck came with buckets out of a Super Duty, so I know they work too.

Re: what kinds of Buckets you guys got

Mine are from a late 80s van they are double arm rests, 360 locking swivel mount, the seat belts also line up perfect and match my interior panels even though the picture doesn't seem like it the cons im having is getting them to mount 100% solid right now it rocks slightly

Re: what kinds of Buckets you guys got

I bought a pair of red cloth captains chairs (dual armrests), mystery seats because I have no idea what they came out of. Kid I got them from said he thinks they will fit in a 73-87 and thinks they may have come out of an Astrovan. I'm not sure if I'm going to use them or not. I'll probably pull the bench and test fit them, if they look simple I'll do it, but I'm not going to build the truck around a pair of bucket seats. My existing front vinyl bench is in great shape, however it's the old narrow style that dumps one cheek off, leans you against the door or you have to sit behind the radio instead of behind the steering wheel. Hate the 82-older benches. I had an 83 with a comfortable bench, but my 79, 81 and 82 are all stupid, too narrow. Hate to take out a mint looking seat, that matches the rear seat perfectly. I'll have to follow this thread to see if I can learn anything.
