What kind of Aftermarket Tach???

Hello, I'm wanting to put an aftermarket tach in my dash the cluster. I found the thread giving great instruction on how to do it. My question is what kind of tach does it take to work without messing up the wiring sheet on the back of the cluster. I have a Sun Tach, it's to long or deep to install. It has to be a thin tach....but what brand and where can I get one???

Are you talking about using the factory circuit sheet on the original gauge cluster to power the tach? I'm not sure why you would want to. Hooking up a tach is crazy easy. The tach reference signal goes to the negative terminal of the coil, the power lead goes to power source that is key-on, and the light hooks into your gauge light's circuit. The ground is obvious.

where you putting it, the center hole..
if you're keeping the stock gauges most aftermarket tachs don't fit with use of the circuit wire (they are to deep)
but a 3rd gen f body tach (t/a,camaro,etc) will fit with a little work.
or mount the sun tach infront of the center hole

I want to put it in the center hole in the bezel,cluster... I found the thread on how to do it. Just need to know what kind,type of tach and where to find one. Thanks

I have a sun super tach 2 in my cluster but you have to cut the plastic part of the cluster and the tin part and the tach will slip in

Brothers trucks has the stock versions. They will fit in your stock cluster. The tach alone is $74.00 and the conversion kit (if you never had a tach installed) is 197.00. Just look under Interior, then dash components.
