Anyone have a source for 52 - 54 mercury trim rings like these? I believe these are plain steel? or you think I could mig weld the original stainless trim to the fender?

this is the look I want, I'm open to other options though, just not the hagen or hoffman kits

The ones 1 Bootlegger posted are the ones you want. Not cheap but the are the best looking. someone else sells one like the one in your photo from R&C without the ss inner ring though.

I have 53 Merc rings on my lights on the truck in my avatar and have had them on since the late 70's.

I think these are the ones in the photo you posted and they might be better as you won't have to deal with getting the inner rings to stay in. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1952-...item27b882c6a7

You have to take the headlight buckets out of the fenders and reverse the clips that hold them in then grind the lip off the headlight bucket so that it will fit in flush from the back side. It's best to align the headlights the way you want them before welding on the rings. And if and when you burn out a light or have on broken you have to take it out from the back side but what the heck, I had to do that on my daughters HHR a month ago.

thanks everyone!, I looked all over ebay and didnt find the ones Mr48chevy found, that's exactly what I want, just ordered them !!

this is similar to what I want to do, what do you mean by reverse clips? which clips? have any pics?
you can see they welded in nuts and bolts where the original adjusters were, I was just going to extend the adjusters a little, cut a slot in the end for a screwdriver and that way I can plug the adjusting hole with a rubber plug.

got these from butchs, nice quality, but I think I will have to take about an inch off the back, they'll fit better.
I assume that's a pic of an original in the back.

By reversing the clips I meant taking the nutclips off around the opening in the fender and turning them around so you can use them to hold the headlight in from the back.

That headlight adjustment idea is a lifesaver Skip99 I'm going to have to borrow that idea. That is the one big problem area on these as once you have the rings welded on you can't adjust the lights by normal means.
