Question How to paint white cab top ?

What I really need is pictures of cab tops in white.
Where are the separation lines both inside the door frame and the
back of cab ? I figure the A pillar will be painted white also.
My truck is a 68 and is solid color now so I have no reference points to go by.
I will need to add the chrome strip under rear glass, so need to see where the
color line will be.
Thanks.

Re: How to paint white cab top ?

I painted the window frame white on my door. Then I simply put a tape line down even with that all the way around the back.

I didn't add the chrome strip. I was going to put a piece of trip tape over the line but so far haven't bothered.

The a-pillars I painted white too.

The stock paint on my 67 is only to the drip rail, no door or A-pilar. Don't have a better / closer pic.

67 was painted differently than 69-72 , not sure about 68.

Re: How to paint white cab top ?

Looks like a 68 was painted like the 67 with the pillar and door frame not white. I guess if you are not going for a 100 % correct truck you can paint it like the 69-72 tops.

Not true for my original 68, at least (see above). Also check out these previous threads regarding the 68 a-pillar being roof color.

Re: How to paint white cab top ?

I was thinking that 68 was like 69-72, but I was going by this old 68 GMC original paint we had awhile back. I think I will just stay out of this debate.

Re: How to paint white cab top ?

Samey,

Maybe it was different for GMCs? Or there was some of both? Anyway, I like the truck.
