Is my frame bent?
I recently noticed that none of my body lines match up.. and at first it didn't bug me.. but now its starting to bug me. For example, The cab is a tad lower then the front clip, and my bed is a tad lower then my cab in the back, i'll post pics to show what i mean.
In the next picture you can see the cab being lower then the front clip and last but not least |

Re: Is my frame bent?
Alignment starts with the doors! Replace the pins and cab mounts. Then add shims to the fender. The shims are near the hood spring. The bed is a little tricky. You can add washers to bring it up. It can't go down!

Re: Is my frame bent?
I dont know :/ guess i shoulda looked while the truck was on jackstands during the process of lowering the rear more. Blah i still have so much to do with this truck. i dont know where to start, engines got a small misfire everynow and then, depends on the day. Interior needs work and a radio, could use a new clutch and tires. Gotta put on new 'sport' mirrors, needs window seals, paint. Now I gotta do the body mounts and what not. Lol still love the truck though got it when i was 17 (now 18 lol) never gonna sell it. Bought for 1750 with a messed up transmission i think it was a pretty good deal.

Re: Is my frame bent?
You can measure your frame to see if it is twisted.
Off the top of my head... Measure from the left front corner to the right rear. Then measure from the right front corner to the left rear. The measurement should no be more than 1/4 inch off. There may be a more detailed way to do this, but I remember it this way.

Re: Is my frame bent?
Since you live up north, and I assume this is not some sort of a barn find survivor truck, you probably have a lot of replacement body parts on your truck. And as others have said, things like body mounts tend to take unintended shapes as they age. Sorta like me. Anyways, body workers are sometimes forced to do the best they can with what they have to work with given time and budget constraints. I guess if there is unlimited budget, time and patience available, your truck can be made to look perfect. But honestly, they didn't look perfect when they were rolling off the assembly line. Yours looks great considering where you are and what you paid for your truck. Just saying....

Re: Is my frame bent?
It could also be the infamous Chevy lean.

Re: Is my frame bent?
I thought the Chevy lean was caused by the rear springs. I had a 73 that had that.

Re: Is my frame bent?
On my S-10, it is the rear springs. I haven't noticed it on the C-10.

Re: Is my frame bent?
To make sure the frame is straight, it needs to go on an alignment machine. That will tell you for sure. If that is all good, it looks like you need to replace the cab mounts. Then line up the doors and fenders. Get the gaps how you want them. Once that is all done, shim the bed to line it up. A little extra time here will make a big difference on the looks.
