Ignition bezel help

So when I bought my truck it had no ignition Switch or bezel and now I don't know how to install the switch and bezel I ordered from lmc. (and i am not sure which year cab it is) It doesn't seem to fit correctly...the one I bought just sits in the hole and I figured the actual switch just sandwiched it in, but I was wrong
Does anyone have advice or photos of an install so I can ensure I have all the right parts?
Tried doing a search but came up short so sorry if this is posted somewhere, just poit me in the right direction

Thanks in advance

Re: Ignition bezel help

67 had a different bezal then 68-71 as for how it all goes together...

starting from the outside it goes bezal/dash/spacer/switch/wireing connection

don't install the key untill the switch is installed into the truck or it won't go together

heres a link that shows all the parts http://www.dreamershotrods.com/6772c...ng.aspx?page=2

Great info 71gmcburb!

I guess the question is if it's a '67 cab.
The bezel is also not the same size on a '67.
Heres pics of my '67 and '68's ugly bezels...
The first is the '67
The second a '68
Hope this helps.

Re: Ignition bezel help

Yes, I have both bezels, and it appears that the 67 is what i need, however, when i assemble per the LMC catalog blow-up, it didnt fit right, almost as if i was missing the spacer, now that i see this link, i realize what happened was i got the 68-72 bezel, and not the spacer - maybe they sent me the wrong part, and not trying to put it on for over 2 years was my mistake.

But thank you for the photos and link! I have found my issue and will be ordering a new spacer, going to be nice to have a key to start my truck, rather than a button...

If I remember correctly the '67 spacer is not reproduced so you will have to find one on the Parts Board.

So I bought the 68 and up spacer and looks as though I can apply some modification to make it work. Just going to Cut it down some.

Anyone do this before?

You may be able to pull it off. The '67 spacer is 1 1/16" long. That will put you into the flared out area a ways. The biggest problem may be that there won't be anything to keep the whole switch from turning. There are three small tabs on the '67 spacer that fit into notches in the dash, that is what keeps the whole switch assy' from turning when you turn the key to start the truck. If you try it let us know how it works out.

Re: Ignition bezel help

Will do, just wish I cold find the right spacer...

I shaved it down already, hadnt thought of the spin issue, but maybe I can make a bracket behind the dash. I will post an update if I get something to work.

Re: Ignition bezel help

try putting a chunk of rubber between the dash and spacer and tighten the bejezes out of it. it should keep the switch from spinning
