New Pics...give your opinions please
Hey guys, just test fitted some new tires on my 71 Burb.....they are BFG Mud Terrain KM2's, size 33x10.50x15 on stock 15x6 rims. Please give honest opinion, for I need to make a decision on them quickly. Thanks again.
OH, and do you think white letter out or black out sidewalls?????? |

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
For the height of the truck they look a bit small. White letters out definitely.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
Id say you need 33 12.5 15's on at least an 8 inch rim with the size of that burb. Personally I like the white letters in.
BUT, on Mikes truck I love the white letters! EDIT, I was looking at it some more. Maybe even 35's with that lift.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
yeah....they are smaller what most run on a 4 inch lift. I was wanting to have the old stock look...with the lift. I don't wanna buy more rims, since I just bought these from teeitup. These tires might be good to have since I might go to a 2 inch lift in the future. I stole a pic off mosesburb build since I was going for the same look he has. I think the difference is that his rims are 16x6.5 and he has the older style mud's. I plan on hanging fenders on tomorrow and I will post another pic, might give a better look. Thanks for the replies guys....

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
Yeah it really depends on the look you are aiming at. The older styled trucks definately had thinner tires than the mudders you see on modern trucks.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please

I don't what you guys are talking about, I love the look of skinny mudders on these ol' trucks. But to each his own I guess. JMHO

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
I dont have a problem with the width (not that anyone cares lol) after I gave it a second look. I think when you go down to a two inch lift you will be just fine.
I had 33's on my K10 with a 2.5 inch lift and it was perfect. I have 33's on my K20 now and its stock height and its also perfect ... LOL, in my eyes anyway =)

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
I agree that they could be a bit taller...but they dont make any tires taller than a 33 in a 10.50 width. So, I tried an All terrain on it today, and didn't really like it. I think I am gonna go with the 33x10.5 Mud's with the white letters out. If I go down in lift size, they will be just right. I will post more pics when I hang the fenders....thanks again guys for the ideas and opinions.......

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
I have the BFG A/T 33 12.50 16.5's on my burb.
I want to go to a narrower tire, since my driver front tire rubs on the steering gear nut on a hard lock right turn. I think this has been getting worse for me, since my front leafs are settling down too much. (They are 15 year old reworked leafs). Height wise, at least for my burb is about right. Your burb has a lot more lift than mine. As for the lettering. For your year burb, I'd go with white wheels with the white letters out. That combo looks great with the white roof IMO. My wheels I PC'd black, since for my year the wheels came black from the factory and the tires didn't have white letters.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
Vectorit, we are all in amazement over your Burb, that sucks your tires are rubbing....I am gonna leave the wheels white, and a little surface rust, gonna run the mud tires with the letters out. Thanks for the info bud

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
It's kind of hard to tell for sure because the lighting is kind of funky in the pics, but I think I am leaning towards the raised white letters out. Normally I prefer them in, but with the pics posted I say out. Do you have a pic in bright sunlight?? I ask because the definition of the rear tire is lost in the dark wheel well. That may sway my opinion--not that it is worth much anyways.
It's funny, you like the older mud tread and I like the newer, but we both have the opposite of what we like.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
I'm running 33's 12.5 on mine... my burb has a lift (approx 3-3.5 inches). I don't get any rubbing - thanks to the offset on my wheels.
I think 35s would be too big - I like the set-up you've chosen. I wanted to go with whites out, but chose not to because I'm on a lot of dirt roads, snow - easier for me to keep clean. But I love the white-out look. I also like the BFG muds - would have gone that route, but could not find any in a 16.5 (they stopped making them in the Mud in the 16.5). My vote - the 33's in the muds, whites out. Looks sharp.

Re: New Pics...give your opinions please
I don't have the burb on them, but I have those tires in the 33s but 16" rims on my blazer with a 2" lift. You can imagine with your burb a little lower those tires will look better I think. I just took these tires/rims off in favour of some 33s on 17s and newer mud tires. I'm a big fan of the ol'skool tall skinny muds on classic trucks, so I've got a few sets of 31" skinny muds laying around for when I get board lol
