Has anyone removed dents from grill surrounds or similiar ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I need to know the method for removing and /or restoring a grill surround. It has two small dents and I don't know anything about this topic.
A fellow board member has a surround for sale and I would like it but if I can't fix it properly, I will have to go new. And you know what that means. $$$$.
Any info is helpful and soon please.
I would like to give an answer ASAP. He deserves it. Thanks.

You can fix the grill surround but it will require time and (sp) patientce you can get em to look pretty good with some time.

Similar to body work, just on a smaller scale with softer material. I didn't have to do much to my surrround, but I fixed a bunch of dents, etc. in the side trim off of my truck. Just take your time and be careful.

Hi Kevin; I've had pretty good luck smoothing them out by cutting the angles needed on small blocks of wood, and then working from the back side. A chunk of 1X2, a mitre saw, and a small hammer are all the tools you need.

Thanks guys. I was wondering if a plastic hammer and a leather bag would do the trick or wood blocks. I am thinking that I may take it by one of the paintless dent repair places and see what they have for tools. They can smooth dents with the paint attached. Should be able to do this. I will let you know.
