84 K10 not getting fuel

I've got an 84 K10 silverado that's been setting for a few years and its not getting fuel. It will fire and run for a few seconds if you pour gas in the carb but it won't keep running. The fuel pump has already been replaced, what could be the problem? Could the sending unit in the tank be bad? or something else?

Sitting that long, I would pull the line off the fuel pump and run a gallon of gas through it. With fresh fuel pull the line off the carb and make sure you are getting gas, even new pumps can be bad. If you are getting fuel at the carb , might be time to rebuild your carb.

Re: 84 K10 not getting fuel

The carb is a fairly new Edelbrock so I wouldn't think that's the issue. I don't actually own this truck yet, I'm just considering if I want to buy it with all the issues it has and the projects I already have my hands full with. The truck has been sitting for 3 years since the 700r4 went out, was running when they parked it, but now its not getting fuel. I was thinking first it would be a good idea to drop the tank and see if theres any rust or junk in there that could've gotten in the lines or anything and while I was at it to go ahead and replace the sending unit. This would be my first foray into 4x4s and i know NOTHING about them so I'm kind of hesitant. I've also got a spare 700r4, but its out of a 2wd, that won't fit, correct?
