Re: Going to look at a 67!

If you offered me $200 I would tell you to leave my property immediately.

Re: Going to look at a 67!

If he wants you to leave the property, you can always leave the property whenever you want, but thats no reason to get ripped. If youre looking to part it out, then its worth more. Sounds to me like you are starting a project, which is a totally different thing. The bed looks gone, rockers and corners gone, motor is out along with god knows what else. Junk man wont pay much more than $250 just to break even, call him and ask. I just sold a '71 cheyenne for $250 with motor in it to the junkman cuz he could get it out of the way quickly. If this guy has any affection for the truck, he would prefer you have it to save rather than letting it get scrapped.

Re: Going to look at a 67!

I am going to go look at it again but from what I saw the only parts of the bed that are rusty are the inside bottom corners and I am going to bag the truck and raise the bed floor so the rusty part will get cut out, the bedsides are really straight but the tailgate is shot. I am going to look at the frame and inside the cab and the seams where people posted about looking. If those are rusty I don't even want to mess with the truck.

Also, just found another truck, a 68. It looks better right off the bat but it looks like most of the body panels are kinda beat up. He wants $900, no motor or tranny but it obviously rolls around better than the first one.

Re: Going to look at a 67!

Much better!!! That truck looks solid, and easily worth $5-600 more than the '67. And it looks like he's got it started for you. It'll be alot less work in the long run. I would offer $700, then give him $900 if he holds firm. Great find!

Re: Going to look at a 67!

I would offer no more than $350. Last year that was a $200 truck, but scrap prices have gone up. The bed doesn't look to bad and the fenders look pretty good. If I was closer I would buy it, but I buy one at least once a year..

Re: Going to look at a 67!

Yeah, the bed is the best thing about that truck. I'd probably give $500 for the '67.

Re: Going to look at a 67!

Stopped and looked at it again, the parts that I thought were good aren't quite as good and the parts that I thought would be bad aren't as bad. The bed is really clean except how it mounts, the bars horizontal to the frame are shot. The cab isn't really bad at all, needs new cab corners and rockers and about a square foot area of the floorboard. Couldn't find any rust at all under the cowl at the seam area. Frame had no damage that I could find and it had surface rust but nothing a media blast wouldn't take care of. And I know you guys like pics!

Re: Going to look at a 67!

Oh, and I'm terrible, also possibly looking at an old Dodge car. 51 Plymouth Cranbrook, its running with a flathead six in it right now. Would be a ton less work than the truck, and I already have one truck. Darn, why can't I just buy both?

$2500 is what he is asking, I'm trying to con him into trading it and some cash for my quad.

Re: Going to look at a 67!

I just sold my harley for chump change because I needed the money. the reason I say this is because there are so many semi desperate people right now selling things for prices unheard off a few years ago. I just bought another 68 chevy for $450. It has a real strong 350 in it and everything works on it. the body is terrible but so is that 67 your looking at. The point is if you are in the market to buy right now, you have the power. You can get insanely clean old chevy's for four to five grand right now. 500-1000 dollar trucks with bodies like that should have a motor and tranny in it.
