1967 Chevy C10
I just picked up the above truck and am trying to figure out what motor is in it! The only data is on the front passenger side of the block - F04I4D - no vin was in this location, is there another place it might be?
Thx Mike |

Re: 1967 Chevy C10
PRETTY sure that 230-250's have a 4" valve cover and 292's have a 6" cover. I THINK that the fuel pump is behind the motor mounts. Do a search for I6 engine id and youll find TONS of info.

Thx,
But this is a V-8 motor, not an inline 6. |

Re: 1967 Chevy C10
If original motor check the spid or run the vin through the site vin decoder.

Re: 1967 Chevy C10
Found the casting number, 3849852 so I know it is a 64-68 283 from a Chevelle!
Some site say "SJ 2B" next to the casting number, I assume 2B is a 2 barrel, but no idea what the SJ stands for. Still don't know how to translate the F04I4D, I assume F = Flint, 04 = 4th day, I = Sep, 4= 1964, D = ?? |

Re: 1967 Chevy C10
I found it to be a 1957-66 283 with 220 hp., two bolt main, out of a car or truck.

Re: 1967 Chevy C10
Those were great little engines. Very durable and ran great on the old 56 with a 4 barrel I used to have. Almost indestructable.
