Yep, I did that. They shrugged that off.

Quality insurance company, indeed.

Maybe also the Better business bureau, put it in writing and mail it to their coorporate office along with comparable trucks for sale, reciepts for what you've done (copies of course), and the arbritration results (again, in writing). They'd be stupid not to just pay you off since they'd lose more with bad business referals.

Also, look at what you saved over the years by not having full coverage and view that as your own insurance policy that just had to pay out. Cobaltco Insurance collected $xxx.xx dollars per year and now is paying to fix the truck. This is how I justify not getting full coverage. I figure what I save on premiums can apply to fixing my truck in the future. The benefit is if you don't have a claim on yourself, you keep the money.

Re: Sad day indeed....wrecked the truck.

UPDATE:

I decided to play along and let this drop. They clearly don't care about a compliant to the Washington State Insurance Commissioner and they're not budging on the liability. I value my time and energy more than to try and sue, and I don't want to absorb yet more costs. They're essentially daring me to do something, and they know they have the upper hand. However, I have more important things to do in my life than deal with this any more, so I'm going to let them stick it to me and move on.

I have a two-part claim that will ultimately pay out a little over $1100 - about what I spent to have the truck towed, and go fight the ticket in court. They paid me a little over $300 for my truck, $140 for towing and hauling fees, and $700 for the doctor visits and time off of work I had to take after the accident. Lucky for me the parts are still salvageable, and I can rebuild the engine and keep the rear axle and transmission, but the front clip is toast. I was planning on rebuilding the bed and doing something about the cab anyway. However, the frame is tied to the VIN, which is now associated to a totaled truck that my insurance company won't insure.

So this $$$ goes into a new truck fund, and I'll start looking soon. it would be nice to get my hands on a 1/2 ton coil sprung longbed '69 or '70 (hint hint).

I'm just ready for this to be over.

Re: Sad day indeed....wrecked the truck.

so WA inspects the frame when you title a truck? In VA they never even looked at any of my vehicles. If not, the frame could be swapped out.

I don't want to take the chance. I've heard it go both ways, so I think I'll avoid the nightmare that might be caused with mismatched VIN numbers and go with a combo that match.
