How low before you need a C notch
I did a search but no luck so I was wondering how low can you go before you need to C notch the rear I am looking at a 3/5 for now maybe a 4/6 down the line but no more than that so I was wondering what kind of clearance there is in the back with a 5" drop spring will I need to notch and would it be better to go with the 5" spring or a 3" and a block and if so why. Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: How low before you need a C notch
i would def go with a block cuz it really doesnt effect the suspension geometry and then add a spring..i think a block and a 5 inch spring wouldnt require a notch...but it depends on how much you value travel..i haul bikes so i put a notch with a block and cut jeep springs...i would also look into some shock relocaters...you can make them easily..
edit..fyi i have a 2" block, cpp notch, coil off of jeep springs..i have about 4" of travel..so w/ out the notch about an inch..which would still be more than ive seen some people run Last edited by scum1; 04-30-2011 at 03:32 AM. |

Re: How low before you need a C notch
I bought and installed EC 4.5X6 drop and they told me a C notch is not needed. I asked the same question as you have and got mixed answers. Right know my frame is done body is off and I have 3" before it hits the bump stops and I cut 3/4 off the bump stops. My truck is a 66 short step. I think it's going to be ok.

Re: How low before you need a C notch
i know of a couple guys running 6" rear springs with no notch...i was told it rides great & very rarely bottoms out...but they also don't haul very much either....these are also short/fleet trucks
