Allen head sockets????
I"m needing to pick up a set of 3/8 drive allen head sockets tonight. Are the craftsman ones any good? I don't mind paying the coin for a good set. I just don't want to have to worry about rounding one off. opinions?

craftsman tools are guaranteed for life/fre eplacement at any sears or kmart
i've got a cfartsman set that i've had no problems with for the 35years or so that i've had them

i have the harbor freight metric set and they have done well. i use them on an impact daily and only the very small ones have broken.

well every set has its limits..and i had two complete snapon kits(impact ready).. snapped my biggest bit on a motor cycle last week..
i have a craftman set i used for hand crankings and well portability. i like both. crap dude ive used pitsburg ones that have held up pretty good

i have a compete set i bought from matco tols there are silver eagle they have the stanrd and metric in normal size standard and metric in stubby long and swivle got the set for 180 buxs

The shorter the the bit the stronger. I have a set of snap-on that are only 1/4 in. long I use them a lot. I bought 2 sets of craftsman,80 mile round trip for warranty.

I picked up a set of "Stanley" ones that work well and haven't rounded off.I've had them for about 15 years and don't use them as much now.I was doing maintainence in a machine shop when I bought them.They did get a work out there.

Most any of them will round off if not sitting in bolt tight. The cheaper chinese crap tends to do it more however. The thing I like about the higher quality tools is that the shaft is mounted into the socket tight and does not wiggle around. Many are just pinned. I like them to be tight. makes a diff sometimes in tight areas. It depends of course on your budget. Craftsman are still a pretty good set. They have gotten too cheap on some of theirs. I hate having to drive to get a tool replaced on a warrantee. For these tools I use Snapon,mac. They all can break or bend.
