Eagle by Chevy question

Hey, I hate to bring this back up, but I am curious. I have seen a few pictures a few different times to a truck that has Eagle by Chevy on it. One was a recent ebay ad, the other was some months back I think, had an old black and white picture of it.

I was just curious of the story on this, if any. Is it just one truck customized like that by someone, or was that something special put out on a few trucks? I really wouldn't want my truck with all that on it, but it has been bugging me as to how it came about.

Thanks for any info!

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

It was a promotional deal in 72 to help move out the trucks to get ready for the new production run in 73. It was one of several promotions that chevy did, eagle, feathers, stars and stripes and was available on blazers, trucks and subs for sure. It is like the highlander package - a promotional deal aimed at getting people not usually looking at trucks to buy them. In sales brochures and literature there are even items aimed at women to aid in sales such as lower height for easier access, the comfort tilt so easier drivability - brochure has a classic line something like this- "If you are surprisingly suvelt or pleasantly plump the comfort tilt is designed to fit all body sizes comfortablely and easily". These packages were offered by gm but came as a sticker pack installed by dealer. There are a few still around and it is truly busy but cool no the less. I would roll one.

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

Are there any of these around anymore or were they too ugly to save? I've seen Blazers with old faded graphics but never thought they were factory. Any survivor pictures?

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

About a year or two ago somebody on the Minneapolis craigslist sold a sticker set for a pick-up. I can't remember if it was eagle or feathers but it looked complete from the picture.

I imagine that isn't the only one out there.

I think an ochre long bed with the eagle stickers would be totally 70s. If I had unlimited space and money I would have scooped up that set on craigslist, had a copy or two made, and applied them to truck.

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

I actually have seen "Eagle" and "Feathers" "back in the day.I don't remember seeing the others and believe those two were the most common.I may also have seen the Vega package but who knows with my memory. It was a time when most folk bought a truck for utility and the automakers were just starting to add the comfort items to make them appeal to a larger group of buyers.

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

That is one of the ads that got me to asking about this Eagle thing That is actually not a bad price for a running truck, the Buy it Now anyway. Looks like they didn't have any luck selling it though.

Re: Eagle by Chevy question

Wow, that Eagle design is mildly ugly. I think my favorite is the Rippler van. It somehow makes the van look less creepy and more like a 70's relic. I want to find a window van now.
