PS Conversion - Had to go from 73 to 76 Steering Gear is it a quick ratio?

I have still never learned what year Chevy went with the quicker ratio steering gears? ANybody know?

The 73 gear leaked, found a remanned 76 with hoses, just got painted it and will install today. Also, what year did they go to metric threads?

Thanks for the answers?

i don't think they ever did go to a quick ratio box.
I think in 73 they went to a variable rate box, but not a quick ratio

less sensitive in the center where you keep it for most deiving, but it speeds up the turning rate when you crank the wheel. If it is too sensitive in the center, it makes for twitchy driving on the freeway.

LHM is right as far as I could find out.I was actually told that there were QR boxes but that any 3 1/4 turn lock to lock box would be a variable ratio, since the QR boxes were few and far between.
