Angry Help!!!!! I can't get my manual hubs unlocked

Hey guy's,

I'm brand new to this forum and a new first time owner of a 71 chevy 4x4 custom camper. I need some help, the manual hubs won't unlock. Where do I go first?

Thanks,

Kevin

try this

jack up the front end and spin the tires and see if that helps. Sometimes they will not unlock with tension on them. I am assuming you have a 3/4 ton with spicer lockouts. "camper special". Make sure you have the transfer case in 2 HI also.

Sometimes they turn after backing up and driving forward a couple feet just to release the tension on the hubs.

Sometimes I have to rock my truck back and forth to unlock the hubs if I haven't put the transfercase in 2wd. I just grab one of the lugs on the swampers and rock while Im unlocking.
Also if you stop in a turn you will have a hard time getting the xfer case out of 4wd. When your ready to take it out of 4wd you can slip the trans in neutral before you stop(in a straight line) and this should relieve the binding in the xfer case. The hubs should be easier to unlock then too.

unlocking

Block the wheels so the truck won't roll & put the trans & case in neutral. That also takes the tension off.
