A question about gauges....
I recently picked up a tach cluster from a 79 is what I was told it was from, but I got it for $40. It is in pretty rough shape, so I figure since I got a few extras lying around I could swap a few pieces here and there and have the one I want.
So, what is the best way to remove and replace the needles?

Re: A question about gauges....
I have a set of Klein 35 degree needle nose that works great. Either those or a fork will do it.

Re: A question about gauges....
I have some pliers like that some where, the wife decided she needed my pliers for making some jewelry and I haven't seen them since.

Decide you need her fork and see how she likes it

Re: A question about gauges....
When I redid mine, I didn't even take the needles off, I just put paper under them and painted them.

Re: A question about gauges....
That's what I did, too. I actually used a business card, and cut a small wedge shape in it to go under the needle.

But I think I will use the paper or business card trick, for the ones I don't have to remove. What color did you guys use for the needles?

Re: A question about gauges....
Mine may be a little older, my fuel gauge doesn't say anything other than fuel on it but it has the same speedo.

The correct color is the red, look at the indicator. It wasn't painted because it was in good shape. It also depends on where you got the cluster / truck from. Some area's had different regulations.

Re: A question about gauges....
I may be getting another tach cluster, I had a guy on another forum offer me one out of a 75 Blazer for the cost of shipping.
