Question Looking into a truck

Hello to everyone. I'm a noobie to these boards. I have a few basic questions.

My grandfather has a large assortment of older cars and trucks. Due to his age and other projects, a lot of his other cars just sit there. I've always been a fan of the 2nd gen c/k's. And he just so happens to have 3. I like the short fleetside beds (not stepside). It would be great if one fit the requirements I want. So the basic questions.

What does swb/lwb mean?
What engine do you guys prefer? Will a v8 line up with the L6 mounts and vise versa?
Do you leave yours as a 3 on the tree or do a floor mounted shifter?
What's the vin Id for shortbed or the easiest way to check?
Any other questions or trouble spots I should look for.

Thanks, Kenneth.

Re: Looking into a truck

Welcome to the board!

Since you are asking about 2nd generation Blazers, I moved this thread to the 73-87 forum so that you will hopefully get the answers you are looking for. Good luck!

Here is an answer to one of your questions:

SWB = short wheelbase
LWB = long wheelbase

Re: Looking into a truck

I'm actually after the info on the pickup trucks, not blazers. But they run on the same frames I'd guess right? I though the 67-72 was the gen2's. What's the length on the swb? And thanks for the responses.
