Race gas comparisons...

Hey all,

I've been using Sunoco Purple in my junk, and would like to hear any real world comparisons on your experiences.

My junk is in sig...But, would like to know your compression ratio, and what fuel you use, and why.

I just bought some TT-111 for 7 bucks a gallon, and would like to use it...Sunoco Blue is what my builder recommends, but it is not available for me anymore....

Thanks for your replies...

How about some more specs on your combo? Hard to tell how much octane ya need with just displacement & power numbers.

Re: Race gas comparisons...

Sorry...I'm right at 14 :1 static, and run a solid roller with a 1050 dommie and iron merlin heads. Have had it to 8K RPM, but like to stay around 7500ish.

I did not hear pinging on the Sunoco Purple, but that does not mean it wasn't there. Open headers make it hard to hear anything...

I think blue is the ticket, or a vp114, but the price is killing me.

Also, the tt-111 is cheap and easy to find. Other than looking at plugs, what can I check for detonation?

Thanks,

A........

Re: Race gas comparisons...

VP C14 would be the best choice I think, but all of VP's stuff is pricey. What you get for that price is some of the most consistent fuel (batch to batch) on the market though.

Renegade fuels are starting to get popular around here, their Pro 114 would work good for you and be cheaper than VP.

Re: Race gas comparisons...

I use TT114 in my 5.30 index car. 598 BBC 15:1 compression, and about 200hp nitrous.
Have a large bump around system as well. Seems to be very consistent. I would not be the person to tell you which Tracktech fuel to use for your combo. Paul Baxter
