Re: Drug out the ol GMC today

Thanks 70cst, It looks good, but I still have a long way to go. Today made it more evident than ever. Took 2+ hours to get it started. Had to move it on a gas can, PS still has never worked. Whines like it has air but still doesn't work. I got those wheels/tires on a truck I bought recently. They'll work till I get it on the road but not going to be what it ends up with in the end. Anyway, I'm getting excited cause I went back to school for 2 yrs. Just graduated in march (6 mo early) and now have a few bucks saved up to finished it up hopefully in time to take the wife to her first car show this year.

Re: Drug out the ol GMC today

Thanks guys! Got any ideas on what I should buy to mount a sport bumper on the rear? I think I might have to fab them anyway since this isn't really a longbed or a shorbed. Nor did they ever come with sport bumpers so I think I'm SOL when it comes to finding brackets that will bolt up. I have the new bumper already just no brackets. So , any ideas?

Glad to see this truck again. Seems like last time I saw or read anything about it it was stuck in paint jail.

Yep, Paint jail it was in for quite some time. I broke down and just forked out the cash to bail it out. But that caused it to get put away rather than finished.

So, now I have some cash again to get 'er finished up! After getting it out of the shop it sparked something in me once again just riding in it for 50 ft in and out of the shop it was just cool!

Today I'm heading down to a local fab shop to talk to someone about making me a tank for it. I don't like how low the blazer tank sits and filling it has been impossible w/o cutting the new bed floor. Before I do that I want to look into some more options. I was also thinking of checking the fit of a mid 70's saddle tank and filling from the wheel wells in front of the tire. If they fit than get them powder coated to match as well...... not sure yet. Polished Alum custom tank or powder coated 70's tank looks like one of those will have to be the answer

Sounds like the vanes in the pump are stuck. I have had that happen on a pump rebuild, they have to slide easily or it won't pump.

what do you think than. Pick up a new PS pump and it should take care of it then? Their pretty cheap but I wanted to make sure it's the pump and not something I just didn't get right when installing. Has 72 pump on it, 75 2wd box, both inverted flare. 1 hose is larger than the other. So I don't see how anything could be hooked up wrong. This one also does not have reverse rotation water pump either.

New pump fix.... easy I'll get one today.

Re: Drug out the ol GMC today

Either get a new pump or take that one apart and put new seals and make sure the vanes are sliding easy. I suppose it could be the box, but in my experience it is the pump first.
