I had to piece mine together out of a few different vehicles. I got the NV4500 from a '96 Z71 with all the clutch linkage, but no transfer case. Had to get the transfer case from an 85 Jeep CJ7 and change out the input shaft on it because NP205's with round patterns are just way too hard to find. The flywheel and clutch plate I had to buy brand new. But it's a darn near bullet proof combination now.

I think the option of getting that 91 suburban with the diesel in it would be a great idea though. Take everything out of it that you want / need for your own conversion for your dually, and then put all your gasser stuff from the dually into the suburban. Then sell the 'burb. At the very least, you should come out even, if not on top a little.

Re: thoughts on this.

Get a 2wd NV4500, you can then mate it to a NP205 t-case.
