wheel and tire size?
I know it has been asked but of course with the search feature down and me not bookmarking some threads here and there, I must ask again.
I am building up a '72 GMC 4x4 with an 8" suspension lift and a 2" body lift. It will be my daily driver (I know it will be a gas hog) but yet I will be taking her for some off road fun on the weekends. I am looking at getting BFG Mud Terrain tires and not sure on the wheels yet, Maybe some MT's. My question is, what wheel size and backspace do I need for my rims so that I can tuck as much without sticking out real far to attract the cops and what tire size should I run? I was thining 38's or 40's. Thanks guys

BFGs don't come that big. I think the biggest is 37". You could run 38x12.5/15 TSLs on an 8" wide rim w/ 4" backspacing. If you go to a 10" wide rim the tires will stick out past the fenders in the front. Check out the pics in the link in my sig.

you could easily use a 40". my 38.5's are on 10 inch wheels and they dont stick out to far maybe an inch or two. Good luck on the daily driver. i tried it for a little whil but decided i liked getting miles per gallons instead of gallons per mile.

Thanks guys, that sucks about the BFG's, I really liked 'em.
I am now trying to decide what backspace (probably 4") and what height of tire to get being that I want the look of 40's yet the little bit less weight of 37's and 38's. I'll probably just go 12.5" wide instead of the better looking 14.5 or so to save me some gas, power, and time (not having to deal with the police)
