Hey Newbie here! I need help with Disc brake Swap!
Hey guys how are you? Im 24 and this is going to be my first build. I have a pretty decent 68 chevy c10 long bed that I want to slam on bags and keep the cool patina look but with a nice clean truck. I have my project down to the frame and wheels and I have already started cleaning the frame up. Now I want to tackle the suspension. First I want to convert the front to disk and I was debating whether to buy drop spindles with the disk conversion or will stock "71 or newer spindles be low enough? Just need some pointers! I appriciate all comments guys! Thanks

I went the CPP route, easier than trying to locate the junkyard parts in my area and with the kit I bought it came with everything you'll ever need, check out their site it's called a grand slam and if you talk to jeff and mention you're a member of this forum you get a discount

It all depends on your budget and how much fab work you can tackle. Sky is the limit? Dropmember from Porterbuilt with ride pro 3.
Tight budget? 1973 and later complete front end swap. And several options in between...... I do like your idea! Post up some pics if you get around to it... Last edited by 5150.4.67; 05-11-2011 at 01:05 AM. |

<- as low as you can go with stock parts and bumpstops. Like said above it depends on your budget. A parts truck was my best bet. Comes with just about everythng you need, including 5 lug wheels and tires.

Re: Hey Newbie here! I need help with Disc brake Swap!
5 lug will give you more wheel selection/availability, but then that won't match the 6 lug rear axles I'm assuming your truck has. If you can swap out the whole front croosmember as mentioned before ('73-87) and find a 5 lug rear axle that might be your best bet, and you can put in your drop spindles/ springs while you're at it. Also ball joints/ tie rod ends are cheaper for 73-87 front ends fyi. Lewis

Re: Hey Newbie here! I need help with Disc brake Swap!
Personally, I went with 6 lug.
1. My truck came with a 3.73 posi - no change/no way. 2. I like the 'stealth' of a stock looking truck ('68) 3. Had two real Centerlines that I adore. I wouldn't go back for the world. |
