Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
I am to the point of my Frame off resto mod and wonder what the best A/C system to buy. I have always heard of vintage air but recently found out about Old Air Products and they looked pretty good too. There 2 electric fan set up looks fantastic. Any pros or cons from you guys that are running either system would be great
Thanks Tim |

Although in my research I discovered that I'd have to use a different compressor than what Vintage Air offers because I'm running a March serpentine belt system on the 1971...so I wouldn't buy the complete kit from Vintage Air which would include their A/C compressor and brackets. But that's ok because you can just buy what you need from Vintage Air. Bottom line is that I had a good experience with Vintage Air and I'd buy from them again. |

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
I just installed old air system this weekend. It was very simple. Everything worked fine. I could of used more pictures, though. I have non-air cab. Probably spent 8 or 9 hours total on it.

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
I went with an Old Air system because the firewall plate is steel and flat and the system allows modification of factory A/C controller. Very happy with it's performance too. Purchased mine through GMC Pauls for a good price as well.

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
Thanks for the inputs I am still on the fence I was going to use Vintage air but I have been reading some good things about Old Air Products . In fact I ordered there dual fan set up today. That set up is hard to beat . Bolts in the factory location and it already is wired with all the relays, fuses and even has a adjustable fan thermostat, the shroud even has flaps in it to let more air flow through the radiator when you are driving at highway speeds.

Which ever one you get mount an electric fan on the condenser and it will make a night and day difference on how cold it is.

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
I ordered the old air dual fan setup that bolts in the place of the fan shroud do you think it still needs fans in front of the condenser ?

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
No way , I have that fan set up on my 71 and it is a nice piece ,use a trianary switch on the ac line to turn on the second fan for the ac. I run mine off a engine heat sensor.

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
Yeah with the dual fan setup you will be just fine. I had the mechanical fan on mine and it didnt pull enough air for the condesor. I have the jeep fan conversion on mine now.

Re: Help Which A/C sys.Vintage Air or Old Air Products
I used Old Air. I have a smoothed firewall, so I had to build a bracket thing for the interior unit to mount too. Luckily I did all of this before I had the truck painted since I had to weld to the firewall. I don't know how vintage air mounts, and I don't know if you have a smoothed firewall, but its something to keep in mind.
