Core Support Bushing Confusion - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Here is what I was sent. It's out of an entire kit for cab and core support. I got it from Brother's but these core support bushing look nothing like the ones I took out. Plus when it's together the bolt isn't long enough. The kit description on the website says 67-72 but in the description it says the core support bushing are 69-72. Can I make it work or should I just call them and have them make it right? Thanks in advance for your help.

That is a poly bushing they sent you, not rubber like OEM. I think the core support bushings are a different size for the 67/68 trucks...

No pics but 67/68 core mounts are different and require diffrent bushings n hardware than the other years.

That's what I was afraid of. I called Brother's today and they said it would work, but they aren't the ones that will have to take it back apart when nothing lines up. They offered to send me the rubber ones. Any reason I couldn't run rubber in the core support and poly for the cab mounts? I figure if the factory rubber core support mounts lasted over 40 years they can't be all that bad. Apparently Brother's doesn't even list poly core support mounts for 67-68. I haven't found a vendor that does actually.

the 67-68 is much smaller, i made that mistake on my 71 i made into a short bed with a 67 frame. i wondered why my front end wounldn't line up few months later i realized

I have never used the poly mounts. But from most everyone's comments I've seen is that they were stiffer and wished they had bought the rubber mounts. As far as mixing them as long as they were they matched figure you should be fine. If you run into panel alignment problems as most everyone does, you will be using some body spacer washers to make up the differences. This all depends on how much patience you have.

Has anyone seen the 67-68 core support mounts used by the factory on early 69s? When I disassembled my 69 (built in early Dec. 1968) last fall, I found that style of mount. There was some damage done to the left front in 1972, but I don't believe the mounts were replaced. Panel alignment was fine. I suppose I better replace with the 67-68 style mount. Agree?

Does it look like the picture above your post? That's what my originals look like. I think I"m just going to modify the mounts I have to make them the same height as the originals.

Those in my early 69 were exactly as the pictures provided by Hubscrub and chewychevy.

I agree that you should go with the 67-68 mounts. By the time I'm done messing with all of this I'll probably wish I had too

The reason they didn't offer you the 67/68 poly mounts is because nobody makes them. The 67/68 kit is strictly for 67/68 and if you try to install them on 69-72 they will fall through the frame bracket. I would personaly use the poly mounts for skipping on the water like rocks..lol Nothing like rubber to save your cab and not have squeaks. WES

I have those as well, but the bushings pictured are in fact the core support bushings, albeit for 69-72. They are pretty ginormous.
