Turn Signal Question

Ok guys here is what I have. I am trying to fix all the little problems the old truck has. When I got it the turn signals didnt work. I changed the flasher and checked the fuses. Emergency flasher works fine. When I turn on the left or right turn signal I get nothing. Every other light on the truck works. Including brake, headlight, parking light, etc. When should I go next.

Re: Turn Signal Question

test the turn signal switch. There will be a plug on the column that you can put a test light on to tell if the switch is sending power to the flasher or if the switch is even getting power.

Re: Turn Signal Question

Ok I took a peek under the dash before the rain storm today. I found some melted wires going to the backup light switch. Not sure why. There is a box under the steering column that has a heat sink attached to it. What is that for? I did not get to the turn signal yet. It came a down pour and had to come in for a while.

Re: Turn Signal Question

If you have a test light you can check if there is power going out to the bulbs. If there is power there, you likely have a ground issue. On the older trucks, the ground is on the housing itself. There are a few good threads around here that have similar issues.
