Re: polishing glass

I've Googled this before. I think it was toothpaste. Google it I found it once. Whatever it was it'd household stuff.

Re: polishing glass

I've seen glass polishing kits before...maybe Eastwood?

How would one of those headlight restoration kits work? I know they're designed for plastic lenses, but it might work.

Re: polishing glass

Eastwood did carry a kit but I haven't used it. I asked the local auto body supply if they had anything with no luck. I would be interested if a household item such as toothpaste or a rubbing compund would work.

Trucks TV did a segment on it. It was one of the shows for the 66 C10 fleetside build.

Re: polishing glass

Go to your local auto parts store, get a clay bar, take the clay out and in your hand soften it up and use a small piece with water by rubbing lightly see if it will clear up the glass. chances are it will...

Re: polishing glass

Is it a haze or is it pitted from old age?

Re: polishing glass

I have used the eastwood kit, Its silica dust and its orange. I polished the glass on a 63 a few months ago and it made the original glass look new. MAKES A HUGE MESS AND WEAR A RESPIRATOR!

Re: polishing glass

Actually if on a budget and you have a tool that accepts a 1/4" shank you can buy the holder for around $30.00 and for $9.00 the cerium-oxide disc. Nothing needed except water as a lube. Same thing pros use. We sell them. you will have to hold it flat however
