Re: Illinois longhorn
Are you saying 120mph Life is to short to be driving that fast my friend. JMHO One flat tire at 120 (if that was your speed) and you and your truck is toast. It is my wish that you have (and your Longhorn) a long and productive life. I want you to be part of this forum for a long long time. Just sayin...

Re: Illinois longhorn
Let me see if I have this right. Your driving on a public road at 120mph and you take your hand off the wheel and eyes off the road so you can shoot a vid clip. Seriously, you need to think about the dangers you put yourself and anyone else on the road in. The only thing positive I can say is that I am pleased you lived, and that you don't live any where near me.

Re: Illinois longhorn
if the suspention and tires are up to snuf, then one hand is perfectly fine. I catch hell every time I post up a high speed speedo shot on here to the point I just stopped.
Al... you have a parking light out up front! You should post up a walk around video during daylight hrs, most ppl on here don't know what all you have done to your longhorn |

Re: Illinois longhorn
The high speed stuff is a tad on the crazy side.....but it was not done in traffic(open interstate hyway). The passenger actually snapped the pic of the speedo, as I was too busy watching the road Thanks Andy, Ill have to have the kid do a walk around on the truck (after we get past this next spot of rain), & post it up

Re: Illinois longhorn
Down here, Johnny Law would be your prom date to the pokie, you would be wearing some fashionable stainless bracelets and after a short stay with Bubba your friendly cell mate, you could empty your pockets and max your CC to the tune of a couple grand plus court costs.
Be safe my friend, be safe!

Re: Illinois longhorn
I'm at the thinking just about everyone has pushed their truck to see how it would handle well above the posted speed limit at one time or another. If everything like tires, brakes and suspension are not a hazard to going that fast. But one mistake on someone else's part sure could make you regret driving that fast.

Re: Illinois longhorn
Lots of good advice here....point taken, but you have to understand that I am but an "old rebel".....I guess that I should not tell you that the old boich was running damn near 140 on the last stretch The old truck rides like she is on rails Take a 3/4 ton truck....firm ride....I call this one a solid ride. She has 1/2 ton pcs under, poly bushings in everything, the box floor is steel, with tie braces tween the runners, 1 1/2" body drop, 3/5 on the suspension. The brakes are good & the tires are fair. She will flat run 100 + in the 1/4 mile, & figure from a stand start a 1/2 mile is close to topped out, & the old truck still weighs in @ 4240....less driver I guess I should take her out to the strip & post the results.....crazyL

Al, remember, for every person speaking up about how you are a bad person for this, there's 2 or 3 of us that get all excited at them and most of them keep quiet.
You're old enough to know the risks and the penalties... do what ever the h you want man! |
