want more lift out of rear bags
I put my burb back together and was wondering of a way to get more lift out of the rear. Thye front has crazy lift but the rear has only about 6-7 inches of lift. It has a Pb rear drop member and firestone 9000 bags. Any ideas?
the second pic is all the way up in the rear

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Are the bags fully collapsed when aired-out? If not, you could run a spacer. Hard to get any more than that out of a 1:1 set-up...

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Put a spacer under your rear bag this will allow more lift.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
do you plan on ever driving that high anyways? it looks like plenty of lift to get up curbs and speed bumps.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Bags are not fully compressed at full dump. My rear bumper hits before bags compress all the way. They will prob compress 1-1/2 to 2 inches more.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
What size Rim and tire are you running? From the looks of it they are small. So the rear probably has alot of room to go before bottom out in the notch? I say some bigger tires and a spacer on the bag.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
No the front needs to cone down some 2 more inches. No DM on front. Just bags and drop spindles.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Cool ride,
2 points of my opinion, 1, your rims dont look from the pictures like they are tall enough, 2, i think your bags should be full collapsed at full drop, if they are not, say for instance 1.5" then i think you have lost 1.5" of lift, Hope this helps, Last edited by roofingbloke; 05-15-2011 at 04:07 PM. |

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
The wheel and tire combo is 27 1/4 tall. I prob should have gone with a taller rear tire. I'm going to do the spacer on the bag and See how that works.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Good choice, with the rear spacers , low cost & should resolve the problem with the bags fully extending,

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
You can pull the bags out, fully collapse them and then put some tape over the ports. set them in place and see how much space you have left. that will be the exact size of spacer you need, the last thing you wanna do is put a spacer thats too big in.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
you may want to talk to nate first at porterbuilt, i would think he would design his system to full lift. i think you have a sleeve style bag and they are sensitive to stroke. i ran into the same thing with mine in the back and made a 1.5" spacer. i am runnig a convoluted style bag in the rear, not a sleeve.

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Juan-
The F9000 should be right at 4.5" when fully compressed. From the pics, it looks like you could get another inch or two out of it. Do what the others have recommended, and use a spacer to get the difference. Just make sure that you don't allow the bag to compress for than the 4.5" as it can damage the bag. If you do the spacer, youu can also remove or change the height of the spacer if you decide to run a taller tire at a later time. Nate

Re: want more lift out of rear bags
Nate is right 4.5 collapsed 9-9.5 bat ride height and 12" extended Ridetech offers 1" spacers you can use one or stack them as needed
