Re: integrity of this board by members

Bob, that sucks. I hope you don't have any more problems selling. Just a suggestion, but maybe putting in the extra effort is something you should reserve for the members who have a known track record (# of posts, reputation on the parts board, etc.). Everyone else has to earn it...just an idea. I'd hate to have you taken advantage of because of your honesty. We've never bought/sold to each other, but based on what Andy says I'm sold on your rep. I'll keep you in my list.

By the way, anyone jerking around honest sellers (ESPECIALLY ones who work hard to supplement their incomes by selling truck parts) aught to have their butts kicked IMHO...

Re: integrity of this board by members

A simple way to resolve the situation is 25% deposit then prepare parts for shipment. Balance received ship parts. Play fair !!!

Re: integrity of this board by members

So far, all my transactions on the board have been as a buyer. I've never had any problems.

I do *not* expect anyone to pick a part until they have my payment in hand because all good intent aside; stuff happens. I could be on the board and see a sway bar I just *have* to have and could quickly negotiate a deal then get up the next morning to find out my DD needs a fuel pump and no longer have the hobby money.

Heck.. it took me 3 hours to get the suspension off the right front of my truck -- I sure don't want to put someone else through that and then skip on the deal!

I don't expect Amazon to ship me a DVD before my payment clears and I don't expect a board member to ship me a part until my payment clears.

Now, mind you.. if I ever do have someone fail to ship me a part -- I'm likely to come get it... but there has never been a need for that.

I don`t expect instant service from someone who`s parting out a vehicle as a hobby and a sideline to their daily life and job, either.

Re: integrity of this board by members

It keeps happening Bob, unfortunately. I've had 2 deals in the last 2 weeks guys say they want parts and back out, one I was holding the part for a month for him the other said he would pay pal me in a few days but 2 weeks went by and never did. Both are still asking, buying, selling parts when they said they couldn't do it. I'm not holding parts anymmore without down payment!!!

not sure of the origin of the quote but one that seems to ring true to me every day:

sad but true and getting more so everyday.

Re: integrity of this board by members

I have bought loads of stuff on here and much more on eBay. I would trust the sellers on this WAAAAYY before the general population of sellers on eBay. I cannot say enough about the high quality of people that makeup this forum. However, I know that there are 'bad apples' here and there. And that is a shame.

Re: integrity of this board by members

I've had similar dealings on Craigslist...where I sell something, and no one shows, calls, writes, sends smoke signals, NOTHING.
But not here. I've bought a couple things on this forum, where I paypal the money, and then the part goes out. I like using paypal because it leaves you some recourse. I don't mind paying completely up front either, just the way it is.
I sold an engine on CL to buyer "A" for $300 bucks...no deposit, nothing, no calls answered, no emails answered for 2 months...So I posted it again and sold it for $250 to buyer "B"...Recently buyer "A" calls, and gets huffy because I sold "his" engine, I laughed and hung up...I'm like most guys who part out a car every now and then, because it softens the blow of buying just a part, when you can part a car and hopefully end up even, or make a couple of bucks for a Big Mac...but I'm not a junkyard, and I really don't like having a 1/2 parted out car taking up valuable driveway space, while I wait for some clown to decide If he really wanted something off my car....So I guess I'm agreeing with the original poster.

Re: integrity of this board by members

I havn't sold anything on here
as for people not showing up as promised, happens all the time
i've had someone work a price right down
"I'm broke and needed the parts can't work now,can i pay you in 250 in two weeks"
since it was 3 burb doors i didn't need, i said i need 100 $$ to get something myself...then the guy called me back and got reasons why he couldn't show up with the 100.
so there goes my parts i wanted no $$
i don't meet ppl at my house anymore ,and i wait maybe a half hour...cause stuff dissappeard from the parts truck/car had the neighbours call the cops once, they knew i was at work and no one should be out back and cops then started running vins.had to leave work and show up . In the time i've been here everyone seems to be straight with each other and very helpfull,I do what i can for people help wise here, heck i learn more and more here every day
there will always be jerks out here, glad their not welcome here!
