carb making a strange noise...

so i finally got exaust on the 250 six in my truck. and now that its nice and quiet i was going to adress the idol issues.

and i noticed the carb is making a noise like when your cup is empty at burger king. this slurping sound. i mean its runs "ok" its got alot of hesitation and such, and i think it just needs rebuilt.

carb is a rochester model B.

ideas?

Re: carb making a strange noise...

You may try taking out the carb and tightening the bottom part of the carb to the middle section. The Phillips head screws that come in from the bottom. After a recent rebuild mine came loose (no loctite or tightened enough) This caused a terrible vacuum leak and some odd noises.

Re: carb making a strange noise...

I have an intake leak that causes a whistle sound to come out my carb.
Maybe you have something similar.

Re: carb making a strange noise...

i made a new gasket for the bottom when i first got the engine, and the bowl to base screws are pretty tight. its like slurping its kinda funny!

i think its where the top meets the bowl. the venturi goes down thru the middle of the fuel bowl and im thinking if there is a breech in the gasket itll suck air and maybe a little fuel if the level is high enuff in the bowl. this would explain only having to take the fuel screw out like half a turn.

imma bust out the gasket material and make a replacement for the bowl to base and the top one as well and see what happens.

sound good?
