saw a neat one today
at the pumps, I spoke briefly with a woman driving it, she told me her husband restored it. It said C20, and obviously was a 2wd 8 lug, but I noticed a trim badge that said Trailering Special, 11,000 gvw. Can't recall the last time I ever saw one of those, if ever. My K30 C&C dually is only 10k. Had 75k miles on it, only 54k when he got it and restored it. I think it was a 79 judging by the headlight surrounds, she didn't know.
As she drove away I realized I missed my chance to snap a pic with my camera phone. Anyway, it's good to see an old hoss still working to earn it's keep. She had a yard of wet bark mulch in the back that she had to deliver, truck didn't have any squat at all.

I've seen the emblem in the parts catalog, never on a truck, nice find. It is good to see the vintage iron out still earning it's keep.

The k5 tailgate I bought today had something like that on it. Can't say I recall seeing it on a k5 before, but no real reason why not I guess.

ive seen a few in my day.. they were generally used by the city here for trailering the police horses and in the parks department

Now I want them for my truck! It didn't look anything like the one posted above. Oddly enough, when I pointed it out, she said the first owner had a slide-in camper in it. Which could have been more appropriately called a camper special.
Funny, not too many years ago I would have parted something like that out. I never liked 2wds much, or especially 2wd 3/4 tons, and this was a stripper with crank windows and a 465 gearbox in it. But now I'm able to appreciate it, and stuff like that catches my attention while I pay no attention to new $50,000 dollar 3/4 ton toys.

my 76 has the trailering special package, my option list has option code Z82 "Trailering Special equipment" Not sure what all that included, but it wasn't a mandatory axle ratio, because mine has the 3.08 gears. My emblem says 8,000

Wow thats pretty neat for sure. I can say I have never seen one on any trucks I have owned or around here at all. Its always cool seeing old trucks out and about getting driven and used as trucks

UY7 "H.D. trailer wiring" U76 "towing Device" VR4 "Weight Distribution Hitch" F60 "Heavy Duty front springs" F51 H.D. Frt/RR shock absorbers" Maybe these were part of it also?

Yes - UY7 and VR4 would be part of Z82.
F60 and F51 would be separate. Re: U76 - are you sure that's not V76? IIRC V76 is the front tow hooks. I"m not sure what U76 would be. K

You are correct, its V76 towing device. Right above it on my list is U76 "windshield antenna"

I did that job for one day, during my supervisor's training. Installed the front bumper: the RH side guy swings the bumper over the open pit, LH side guy catches his end and then the two of you set the bumper brackets over the frame horns. If V76 tow hooks are required, you install them at that point and slip the horizontal bolts through and finger start the nuts.
At any rate, I dropped a tow hook on this guy's foot. He wasn't very happy about it and I suppose that was the end of my career as an assembler.... K
