any body seen hei advance springs break

I was racing a 4th gen ss camaro which i had already beaten once although this time he got a jump on me. Tryin to reel him in I held the trans in second until about 6600 rpms which is higher than usual. Immediately the engine started sputtering and wouldnt idle, of course I thought the worse. Started checking and found timing about 60 degrees caused by broken advance springs which were stock in a 3 year old gm delco distributor. I have never heard of this, wonderin if anybody else has.

Oh yeah it it happens, if you race a good bit I would consider a recurve kit. Thy are cheap and you could use a different spring rate to help that big ol truck to get going faster. Jim

I just bought a recurve kit for my 307. Just installed HEI from point. Several people told me to get the recurve kit. How do I know which springs to use? It came with several different springs rates.
