Poll: Seats for 67-72 Opinions
Allright, all you owners out there who have changed from a stock bench to something else, what is your opinion for a 6'1" 200 lb. driver who likes alot of leg room?? What late model seats, in your opinion, are going to work the best, look the best for our year trucks, and give a comfortable ride?? By the way, I removed the gas tank from behind the seat, have aftermarket 3 way seat belts, and I have a B&M Truck Megashifter on a high hump messing up the leg room for that middle rider, so I don't know if a 60/40 split or a set of buckets would be better. What do y'all think from your experience?? Saw a really cool set of buckets in a 1990 454 SS with high backs and great bolster pads. Would of had to buy the truck to get those seats though!

I have put in about every type of seat I can think of in a 67 - 72 truc and I like the seats from a 98 truck, the ones from the 2000 and newer are a little to big / tall

Yep..I think the best are the 88 to 98 benches..anyof them from the standard to the split bench. I'm same height..but just 185-190. It definitely a nice position than the stock.
The extended cab idea though is real good

Looks like thats the way to go, kill two birds with one stone; cut the back out of my cab and slap a cab slice from this other one I have just collecting dust, and at the same time have to shorten the bed for everything to fit, I'll finally get that short bed I been wanting!!! I don't know why I didn't think of this myself?? Thanks you two. (I'm just kidding, I would never cut up a cab like that!!)

There's one of those extended cab fleetside that runs around this town ALSO a 1/2t trk with a flatbed and a air assisted drop axle so he can haul more weight, it even has a dump bed.

I bought aftermarket seats from a place in texas. They are highbacks and a center seat/console. I would stay away from something like these. I did raise them 3 inches (I'm 5'7") but I have to have it as far back as it can go and I'd like it to be back further. Son-in-law is 6'5" (hes's scared of me LOL) and I think he has a little hard time driving it. You can get the seat to go back farther but you have to have it almost straight up and down and thats not comfy at all. Its pretty much custom made for me!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont have a tank back there either......

Why do you have to change? I am a 6' 4" 170 lbs kid and i fit in my truck fairly well even though there insnt the most leg room but i also have the stock bench seat and steering wheel and no tilt.

sweetnrare67,
you ask,"why do you have to change?". I'm looking for a different, more custom look and feel for the seats. I also like the idea of having a little protection for me and my passengers in the event of a rear end collision, (i.e. higher backs than a stock bench). All that glass embedded in my neck and skull doesn't thrill me. I think there have been some advances in automobile technology since 1972 that we CAN integrate into our 'classics' and make them more 'user friendly', without losing the appeal and style we love. Thats just me though. |

Im 5'10" and love my 98, 60/40 seat. With the gas tank removed you should be able to get the extra leg room you want.
I also have a later model Chevy steering wheel for more Knee room.

in my opinion the 98 60/40's like bill has are the best choice they just seem to be made for the cabs (except the bolt holes)

These are the buckets I have in mine right now. Not sure what they are out of, I traded my bench for them. I also have a split bench from a 2000 Dodge pickup that I am thinking of using

I was thinking of a set of Late Model Camaro or 1990 Mustang Bucket Seats (my brother will have a set for me when he does his Mustangs interior), but I don't know how they fit, and if the headrest will be too tall. VERY comfortable though.
