Gas Tank Filler Tube Removal?

Is it easier to loosen the tank and move it over to remvoe the filler neck? Mine's leaking and I need to do something about it.

I just loosened the straps fuel tube and sending unit wire. then moved it over. the previous owner didn't have any clamps on it.
