How do I get the bottom of the driver's door to go in more? I have about a 1/4 to 1/2 gap all around, door closes good. see picture. I have the fender off.

Re: Door help

all of these trucks are like that, mine does and all my buddy's do to, a local hotrod builder here says everyone he's seen does that, unless you take the door and work it to get it out that's what you get

Re: Door help

Someone posted before that when these trucks were made they used 1/8 in tolerance on alignment on panels n doors. My Dad was telling me the other day his 69 when he bought it had a bad water leak on the driver's door at the top. When he returned the truck for repair a guy came out with flat bar he stuck in the door hinge and torqued the top of the door towards the cab. Took the truck over to a water hose to insure it didn't leak. With your door especially at the bottom it may need to be massaged in somewhat. Before trying that I would start by adjusted the hinges in about an 1/8 and the striker plate to see how much you can cut down on the gaps. Provided you already have good door seals installed. Insure your hinges are in good shape too to prevent drag on the rockers. Good luck.

Re: Door help

My doors are doing the same thing. However, my doors need a lot of force to shut them. I have a feeling I will need to pull fenders to loosen up the hinges and play with the spacing.

Good luck, I would be interested to hear the fix on your end.

Re: Door help

Do a search on the board for aligning doors. There is one post that shows pictures of a snap-on wrench that can be used to adjust with the fenders on and there is several write-ups of how to do adjust them.
