thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

so has anyone had issues with their halos? the last set i installed was on my 94 and i liked them, but slowly the halos burned out, starting with the led "dot" within the first 6 months that i had them. i ended up pulling them apart and replaced all of the leds with amber leds and went with a slightly larger resistor which solved my issues, but couldn't get the "dots" to work, which wasn't an issue in my opinion. so has anyone had an issue like this? i'm just trying to get an idea of whether i should pull them apart when i get them or if they lasted for a while. thanks!

All I know is don't buy cheap ones.......learned that the hard way. I wasn't able to see anything at night and they turned yellow in three months. If you buy a well know brand to began with you should be ok.

Re: thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

I'm installing some on my 99 burban. the instructions that came with it were kind of vague. Does anyone know hot to wire them. Instruction said red wires to positive wire of side marker, black wire to negative of side marker. There is also a green wire but it doesn't say where it goes. any help on this?

Re: thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

You can wire those up in one of two ways. First off you can tie them in to your running lights and have them come on when you turn on the running lights, or you can run a toggle switch into the cab and have just the halos come on. The red is going to go to a 12vdc switched hot source, like the toggle switch or the running lights. The black is going to go to a ground. On my 94 gmc that i put some halos on i drilled and grounded the halos to the core support. The green wire i'm not certain where that goes since the halos i had didn't have a green wire. Hope this helps

Re: thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

now that i think about it, do those halos come with either a dot or set of dots or an extra light somewhere in the housings Capacity? if so then that is more than likely what the green wire goes to.

Re: thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

I tied the red one to headlights and they work I grounded the black wire. the halos are a separate bulb. So does that mean that i wire the green to the red one as well?

Re: thinking of getting halo headlights for my 01 tahoe

you need to figure out what wire operates what led. most people tie them into their running lights
