Wood bed mistake
Before reconstruction of the bedsides my son and i assembled the wood bed thinking that in the meantime I would finish the wood components. We got a liitle too anxious and took it all apart before realizing we had not marked the bed to frame holes. Does anyone have a hole layout on these locations? Also how do I shrink the file size of photos to attach them

Re: Wood bed mistake
I mounted my bed bolting the crosssills only on the frame so that I did not have to drill any holes in the bed wood.

Re: Wood bed mistake
I believe GMC pauls and Mark-K both have layouts for the holes....
..to mount without drilling the holes through the wood I'm pretty sure you have to mock it up and then relieve the underside of the wood to allow for the bolt head to fit...

Re: Wood bed mistake
I will get a picture tomorrow. No need to relieve the wood to put the bolts in.

Re: Wood bed mistake
Here are the pictures. I think it looks better without the bolts and the bed supports are still bolted to the frame in the same location as original just bolt up from under the bed.

Re: Wood bed mistake
That does look sweet. So just the carriage head is let into the wood bottoms? What are the wierd little brackets that come with the cross sills all about?

Re: Wood bed mistake
I just use a regular bolt with a washer. This has worked on this truck for about 20 years. The wood attaches to the cross sills and just the cross sills attach to the frame.
