Re: Torchered
Thank you Cheby!
Here are new photos from today. This is the ride height we liked. How do you get the front on the ground and build inner wheel wells? Looks like you have to trim all the inner fender fender off. Any suggestions

Re: Torchered
Inner Front Fenders, first of all I am running 45 series tires measureing 28 front and 29.5 out back. Looks like this will be dropped to 27,28 to start with. Then we are going to cut up the inside of the front fender rail. We are looking at mounting a brace from the core support to the firewall. This will be the lower mounting point for the inner fenders. The top will have tabs mounted out fom the inner fender lip to attach the top to. A really good example would be a 1966 or so Mopar. The fender will run from the core support to the fire wall and can be removed. This should allow us to hide the battery too.
This will be started after the bed has been mounted up. After measuring last night looks like it will be a 8ft tall bed. This shop truck won't be carrying much i guess! LOL. The color has been changed to a burgandy/dark red for the company color as well. Im going to paint my Nova the blue that had been selected.

Re: Torchered
Talked to the shop again today. Looks like we are going to weld
the tail gate into place. The owner has an ideaof a plexiglass rear Window that will hold the rear liscense plate. Hmmmm thinking about that. Probably mount it in the bumper like normal. There's been talk about sucking the bumpers in an inch or two as well. The next couple weeks there should be alot of progress and lots of pics. I also ordered the new tires, falken AS-03 I think. This will Get that frame to the ground. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Torchered
Had to stop by for an inspection today of Carolina Kustoms Progress. In particular they wanted to know about the bed and wether it was what I wanted. Floor has been raised with crossmembers holding the sides where they are supposed to be. The inner tail gate will be smoothed, with the wheel wells welded in from below the floor so the bed is smooth. Well besides the three cuts from My Long bed chop.
Ordered the new wheels from Centerline. 20x8 5"bs and 20x9.5 5"bs. That rear will have one hell of a lip!

Re: Torchered
Thanks Cheby.
Let's see if we can get some opinion going 1. Tail gate- we are going to keep the Chevrolet logo but smooth Out the handle opening. So there is an indent in the tail gate should this be smoothed out? If so should Tge logo be center vertically in the tail gate. 2. Originally I wanted a normal gas tank neck with a gas door in the side of the bed. I'm not sold any ideas? I have thought about a Resest billet race gas top on the driver side of the bed? Too retro? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Torchered
My opinion
1. leave the chevy logo, shave the handle 2. put the gas filler in the beds floor..trucks low enough, wont be an issue, they sell killer recessed floor fillers with nice covers

Re: Torchered
I have looked at that option. So far I like the gas filler neck located behind the tail light the best.

Re: Torchered
I ponder things alot. The color of the truck is one of the hardest desicions I will have to make. Here are my color choices:
White Dark red or Burgandy Black Silver Dark Metalic Grey The company Logo is compromised of Black, Silver, and Burgandy with the colors changing depending upon the color of the vehicle it is placed. Comonly vehicles are painted White or Burgandy. Here are todays top five: 1. White, silver flake stripe down side outlined with a dark red pinstripe and a dark red black interior. Burgandy Engine bay and under hood 2. Medium Metalic Grey with same effects as above 3. Two tone Grey on top and Dark red on the side, interior undecided 4. Burgandy, interior black or tan 5. Yea its a short list This pic is close to the Grey/Red combo Im considering.

Re: Torchered
Looken pretty good. The bed is welded in place. Wheel wells are chopped and being prepped to be welding in. i thought I would give a little more info on how they are doing these mods:
The bed: I have seen some very clever ways to raise your bed. This is what they did. The bed sides where mounted to the front and rear floor beam. Then mounted on the frame as if it was a stock setup. 1" box tube was set ontop of the c notch with the floor set ontop of that to help set it level . They then took 1" square tubing to make a frame that would weld to the inner bed side. This created a lip to set the bed floor on. After the frame was tack welded up the floor was installeds and tack welded. Rear wheel wells, They removed the top of the wheel well. shaved off two inches and split it into two peices. Rewelded the top on which now created the top corners of the Wheel wells. A donor wheel well provided the center filler plate. Supports from the frame to the bed floor will be installed as well as removable tray that will house the air system. This week the tail gate will be installed and tail gate handle smoothed.
