Is the market really that bad right now?

I've had my 67 up for sale for a while and have dropped the price $5,000.00.

Would I have better luck on Ebay? Any suggestions? I really would like to sell it soon.

Thanks!

EBay is always a good idea allowing for more exposure. But everything right now is tight. Good luck with the sale. Very nice truck.

sadly it is that bad. The middle class has no money to play with anymore. which makes our projects worth much less than they cost to build. It is a sad reality. hopefully it will turn around like it has before.

With time it will. We all must be a little patient.

As OldSkool71 said... Ebay might be the right avenue for you. You can put a reserve on it if you wish. It is a good lookin truck and with a larger base you might get more than your asking price. Good Luck!

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Where have you been trying to sell it? Maybe try a broader venue or a more targeted one. If you've dropped it $5,000 maybe you could try hiring a dealer to sell it for more netting you the reduced price.
There was a time when "getting what you have into it" was never expected nor a concern. You did vehicles just to do them and if you sold it you get back something towards the next one.

The sad part is that Texas has one of the best economies in the country. Ebay would be a good starting point.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Ebay is a good start. Their are many free sites to advertise. To bad you have to sell it, I look at life like we only actually rent what we think we own..
To Give you an idea how bad the economy has gotten, We monitor the traffic on our website. Through out most of 2009 we had an average of 3000 people visit our website. By the end of the year we had gone to around 1200. 2010 hit around 800 and the low came down to a little over 400 people looking by the end of 2010. Right now its going at least back up to avg 850. If people aren't looking they sure aren't buying.
The economy has sort of started coming back but it is real slow. Mfg. has started to come back some.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

The money is out there the confidence is not. A lot of people are still hanging on to their savings or don't want to spend hard earned money on basically a luxury at this time.

Still, as has mentioned above, exposure is your best friend.

The more people that see it, the more potential buyers you have. Just don't get disgusted and give it away for a fraction of what it is worth. Have seen that done too many times. Good luck to you..

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Everything sells just be patient. Advertise it anywhere you can and someone will buy it. It sure is a nice looking truck. It took a little over a year to sell my harley davidson but guess what it sold for almost asking price so like we say in the car business there is always an ass for every seat.

On a side note something that I would do to your truck is maybe lower it like a 3/5 drop at least so it will appeal to more people as most today like vehicles with an aggressive stance. just an opinion no offense meant by it......

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

The economy is real bad here in Southeast Missouri where most people have to drive quite a distance to work at a job for minimum wages. The high price of gasoline is really straining the budget of many people.

Like stated above E-Bay may be the way to go, also try to expand a listing on Craigslist.

All kinds of classic cars and trucks are showing up on Craigslist for way below what they would have been a couple of years ago.

I have a couple I may sell some day, but have decided to keep them while improving them until the economy improves.

Don't forget Craigslist...

eBay is 50/50, but it will give you a good idea of the market value. Don't go light on the number of pictures. You've got a nice truck and you need to show it off.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Thanks for the suggestions y'all! Right now I just have it on Ebay classifieds and on here. I have some guy calling me from "national marketing" wanting $100 to list and sell it. Not sure if it's a scam. I guess I'll try CL.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Check him out real good. If he pans out $100 is money well spent. I wouldn't spend money on the truck to sell it. If someone wants it lowered they can buy it and lower it any way they like.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

Do you have it as an Ebay auction or an Ebay Classified?? I maybe wrong, but the classified section doesn't get the same traffic as the auction part.

Re: Is the market really that bad right now?

I have to wholesale almost all of the trucks I have done in the past 18 months. Maybe 2 out of about 20-25 have gone to the public but not retail. I have been doing it since 1987 and have never seen a time this bad for this long. Good luck to you hope you get what you need to get out of your truck. Jim
