need advice on which way to go...

ok so my plans are to lower my truck 4.5/6 and do 15x10 wheels out back with 315/60R15 tires, give it somewhat of a mini tubbed racey look, my question for you guys if when i lower it im definitely going to ditch the trailer hitch, and probably cut the exhaust back either ahead of rear axle and dump it OR cut it at the downward bend at the axle and dump it there. The reason i say probably cut exhaust is im not 100% which way to go depending on what i end up doing out back for a bumper, which leads me to my initial question regarding this post.

Do I:
  1. Buy a sport bumper for the rear
  2. Buy a roll pan for the rear (if so i need specs on what to look for)
  3. Leave it how it is

Heres some pics of how it sits/looks out back now, and im thinking when i lower it.....its gonna have to change to look right.

I like roll pans usually but on yours id second the sport bumper, and dump your exhaust before the rear axle.

Get a bumper...chop tha pipes flush with tha bumper & I think that hitch may hang to low with a 6in drop.

Re: need advice on which way to go...

Sport bumper, and cut the exhaust behind the axle. That's how mine is done, and it's lower than what you have there. On my '79 with a 4/6 drop, I was able to run mine out the side in pretty much the stock location. My advice would be to do the drop, them make the tailpipes fit where you want them.

Re: need advice on which way to go...

So it looks like everyone was pretty much thinking the same as me with dumping the exhaust and going with a sport bumper. It almost seems like the days of rollpans are diminishing. Anyone else think that? Where's a good place to buy a sport bumper at?

Re: need advice on which way to go...

Put a nice bumper on it, and gooo. That's one sharp little truck as is. Really an eye-catcher.

I'm old fashioned, tho.

Re: need advice on which way to go...

The current choice of most is the sport bumper. Remove the hitch, and tuck the exhaust for a really clean look.

Are you changing tires, or tires and wheels? If your going to change wheels too, consider a going with a 17 or bigger for a more contemporary look. The current "Pro Touring" is a hot look, and 315/40/18's would look really mean on the back of your truck.

If it were me, I would wait till I did. If thats what you really want, save till you can afford them. You won't regret it in the end.
