Complete ac and heat removal

Hi, guys i have an 86 c10 that is a street strip truck and i have no need for the ac or heat. I already removed the ac and heater blower from the firewall and am working on patch panels to weld in right now. My question is what is the best way to remove all of the stuff from behind the dashboard? To me it looks like the only way to bring it out is through the bottom but where are all the screws etc to remove it? Also, the wires that ran to the heater ac stuff i just cut and taped so no wiring was actually exposed. Is that safe at all? or am i gonna have a electrical fire haha. Should i disconnect the power wire from the ac controls??? Thanks guys in advance
