Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
I purchased a wood grain dash bezel from TKorinek a while back. I removed it from the box and the decal doesn't come on the bezel. I thought that was weird, but then again I've never purchased one new any way. I went to install the decal and it fit like crap on the bezel. I had to pull and stretch the decal to even get it to fit half way close. I'm not saying anything negative about Tom because he cut me one heck of a deal and I'm happy with him. I'm just curious to what brand either comes with the decal installed, or which one fits the best and looks the closest to original. Any help is appreciated guys.
I think the steering column rubber will hide the decal to bezel fitment around that area but IDK yet.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
Well I got lucky and found a thread where another member was looking for info on the glove box wood grain decal. So I called the The Truck Shop and talked with a real nice guy from there. I'm probably going to buy new ones from him. He said $95 for a complete geauge bezel and $75 for a glove box one. Is this what the other 2 guys are selling them for? I'm just trying to get the nicest pieces I can if I am going to buy new again.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
The problems with the wood grain decals were that they were originaly made for the Genuine GM Bezels and I believe the made in the USA bezels when they were still availible. Now all of the bezels are imported and they are slightly different (enough different that the woodgrain stickers don't fit verry well) but still fit the trucks and other associated parts. Someone needs to start cutting them to fit the imported reproduction bezels. WES

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
Wes, the guy I spoke with at the truck shop said they have them cut to their bezel and the decal comes installed already. Thanks for the reply by the way.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
Yeah we had several companies quote us on laser cutting them for us but the price was too high and we felt their was not enough demand. Glad they are doing it.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
I have not had a problem putting a repop decal on an OEM bezel. Like stated above, it is the repop bezels that the decal does not fit.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
It would be nice to be able to find an OEM bezel to be able to add one too. Not going to happen around here.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
What about hand trimming a glove box sticker to fit a repop bezel? Would that be feasible? Basically apply glove box sticker to gauge bezel and then trim holes to match your bezel?!?!?!?

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
Not to offend anyone, but I'm guessing it would look like crap and it would take a few tries to get it remotely close.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
Here are some pics of a repop decal applied to an OEM dash bezel. This was my first attempt on an OEM after failures on aftermarket bezels. It fit close to perfect. This was a worn, faded, uncracked OEM bezel that I repainted with chrome paint, and applied a repop decal, courtesy of GCBurdic (Thanks, Geoff!) I used Elmer's contact cement (more like a rubber cement) It dries perfectly clear and allows you to "float" the decal as opposed to attaching it with only the adhesive backing on the decal, making for a centered piece. This will also prevent the decal from becoming a "shrinky dink", basically turning into a piece of wrinkled bacon within a matter of weeks sitting in your truck. While not show quality, it will do until I can find an NOS or similar...and for $14 I am happy

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
You caught that huh I deleted it cause they are just thin aluminum with the decal applied to it. I thought they were better made. But they are still better than using the sticker by itself .They look nice and are easier to install.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
I had the same trouble with the install you did, too big of gaps around the guages showing the black, I painted around all the perimiters of the guages and outside edge of bezel with a medium brown paint before installing the woodgrain. Not the best way of doing it but it really helped hide the problem till I could get something that fits better.

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
i used rustoleum chrome paint, followed by a high gloss clear coat. it is not mirror like, but looks real clean like polished aluminum

Re: Wood grain dash bezel fitment. Who has the best?
If no one has any interest in my spare bezel, I may try this and see how it turns out. I wonder if a person can get the chrome replated without losing any limbs?

no but you will cash in your 401K. We tried it and it cost a way lot more than the aftermarket ones. A whole lot more

Somehow I figured it'd be like that.
