I need advise for new rims.

Recently while washing the truck my girlfriend suggested that I should get some new rims for our truck. She suggested something with a little more bling. Over the years this awesome women has tolerated and supported every single hobby I have had. When she does have a suggestion, I pay attention. She or I drive this truck daily and a new set of wheels will jazz it up. The rally rims are good and I am sure they will find a home on another project.

In all the years and all the cars and trucks I have owned and repaired I have never purchased an aftermarket set of rims. We live in a small community that does most of its customizing to import cars and we only have a couple of places that sell aftermarket wheels, they can order what I need if I have the specifics on what size I need. I will be purchasing my rims online for delivery. I have been searching the forums but I cannot find information about what size will fit a 1969 K10 4x4 at factory height. I want to research as much as possible so I get the correct wheel the first time. I want to use the tires I have as they are new. Here are my questions.

What rim width is best for my 31x10.5x15?
What is the best back spacing?
Is there a specific rim that I must use because of the center bore for the locking hubs?
Has anyone had good luck with a specific online retailer?

Wish I could help with the backspacing question, but either and 8 or 10" wheel works well with those tires. As for a good place to order from, I've always had good service from Summit racing and Jeg's. You also get free shipping. I'm sure somebody else will chime in with some good off-road places to order from as well.

I agree, don't change a thing. I think the stock ralley's are all the "bling" that truck needs.

If your just looking for something a little different, did you ever think of just painting the ralley's yellow to match your truck?

If you're staying with a 15" rim, I would just keep the rally's. You have a good looking truck just the way it is.

The rally's look good. I would leave it as is at least until those tires are worn out. I had a set of BF Goodrich all terrain 33x12.50x16.5 on my stock height '95 GMC 3500 4x4 that looked bad ass!

For what it's worth, I wouldn't replace rally's with aftermarket 15" rims. Just a waste of money and in 15s good style's are limited. Now if you were going to step up to a 17" rim with some nice mud and snow tires then I'd say go for it as they'll change the overall look of the truck. Although, that truck is pretty clean as is. I'd just take the rally's off, blast them, paint them and throw them back on.

Thanks for all the suggestions and I appreciate everyone's fondness for the rally wheels but we want a change. Now that I have started this thread a friend has decided to purchase my rally wheels and tires. So now I am looking at going with a larger wheel tire combo, possibly 17". We don't want to lift the truck. Anyone know what the maximum back spacing can be for these trucks? Will late model OEM Chevy wheels fit these trucks?

I'd got 17s with 33s on a blazer with 2" lift in rear but fronts stock and doesn't rub. Pretty sure newer rims don't fit on the older truck though due to back spacing, although my 22s fit both a 2002 yukon and my '68 burb so who knows lol Somebody on here will know exact BS for our trucks.

I'd look on Craigslist for after market rims and tires as I see mint condition sets with tires going for $400-800 depending on size and style.

Im with you on the wheel change. I dont care much for the rally wheels either. They look pretty good but I think it can look a lot better better with some new wheels. I hope you keep us updated and post some pics when you get the new wheels and tires on.. Nice truck!
