T-3 headlights

Some may know that have been around these trucks/ cars a few days about the T-3 headlights others haven't. How I found out was a guy doing a 100% judging at a car show. If you want to learn something about how detailed they can get talk to one of these guys as to what they are looking for and what they deduct points for to make their scores. You would be amazed at what they deduct for. Too pure of a retoration for my projects of anything I own but interesting anyway. Just shows you how they pick a pure retoration out of some very nice stuff. T-3 headlights are the triangle on the face of the bulb they are no longer made since sometime in the 70's I believe. Before that just about every vehicle on the road had those branded T-3 diamond. Thus sometime later they no longer had that imprint on the face of the glass. For you 100% guys n gals...check your headlights..before the next judge removes points..

Re: T-3 headlights

Just to add a FYI, they were only used until 1970, after that they went to "PowerBeam" headlights.

Re: T-3 headlights

T-3'a were on GM vehicles. When they came out in the mid-50's, they touted the ease of aiming. Those three glass nibs on the outer edges....well, that's where the aiming tool was afixed, so that everyone was supposed to be able to see better.

Nowadays, you can't even guarantee that a newly-delivered vehicle is going to have headlights that are properly aimed. Here in Arkansas, we have no vehicle inspection and I've yet to find any indepedent shops that have a headlight aiming device.

Here are a pair of repro T3 hi/los only $129/pr.

https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-35...-beam-kit.aspx

You can get quads, too.

(doesn't matter to me what lamps are in my truck as long as they work ok)

20 some odd yrs. ago when I spent some quality rummaging time in salvage yards I found lots of T3's on trucks (quads for my Vette)...good highs were easy to find...lows a bit more difficult ... sold a few at swap meets and kept a small stock for me.

Just about anything and everything is reproduced these days. I've often wondered how much it would cost to build a classic car or truck entirely from reproduction parts (if possible).

I'm not promoting any particular vendor. I just wanted to show that T3s are reproduced.

Re: T-3 headlights

they weren't just on GMs.
They are made in repro now
there was 6 or so styles of them
Many GMC trucks (and other 4 bulb cars) still have them on the high beams

Re: T-3 headlights

The last original T3 on my 63 Belair finally burned out last year. Now I'm using some Atlas lamps I picked up at an auction a few years ago.
