LWD Driveshaft: Can I rebuild it?
Is there any kind of kit out there to help me "rebuild" my 2 piece driveshaft?

Three u-joints and a center bearing. Mark the shafts and yoke and put it back together the same as it came apart. The steady bearing can be a bugger to get off sometimes and may need a puller.

Re: LWD Driveshaft: Can I rebuild it?
Yes....however try your local drive shaft shop....in some areas is very reasonable to have it all done there.

Re: LWD Driveshaft: Can I rebuild it?
sometimes it's alot cheaper to have a driveline shop do it right the first time.
if your local parts place has quality ujoints and center support bearing have at it. Most local parts places sell Precision, house brand junk. Like stated above mark everything!.. Disregard last statement if it's already been worked on or is already out of time. Take it to the pros and have it ballanced. Pros will also be able to identify problems most wouldn't reognize. |

Re: LWD Driveshaft: Can I rebuild it?
I did it myself and for all the trouble it was, I'd have a driveline shop do it next time.

Re: LWD Driveshaft: Can I rebuild it?
If you are planning to do it yourself, have a seasoned pro walk you through it once or twice. Or more.
Doable but probably more work than it's worth, than to hire it out to someone who does it daily. |
