Guys,
I am the lucky new owner of the truck on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-...10d906fe#v4-37 it is heading my way as I type this.

I have been looking for a truck like this for a long time actually looking for a Brown one like in the Movie every which way but loose but the desert fox will have to do. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_63885-GMC-K-15-1977.html

I cant wait till I get it like a kid in a candy store. I plan on doing a frame off restoration to the truck. I am sure I will need to get more help and parts off you guys.

Anyways I am a Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer ITC to be exact for all you Navy guys. I just retired in Jan with over 22 years in, I flew the last 11 years with The Navy Tacamo jets at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TACAMO

Guys,
go it this Am has more scale rust on the frame then I planned it to have but what do expect from a Michigan truck the cab has some rot thru the floor pans will need patched.

This thing has factory dual shocks all the way around it can you say spendy for the shocks

What is the Stock height on these trucks I want to make sure I order the right size of shocks?

Will need new window motors they are really slow to move where is a good source for these as well as the switches?

The tach seems to work but when you start the truck up it slowly starts moving up and to the right then pegs out at the bottom think it may be wired backwards any Ideas?

Still very pleased with the purchase the Guy I bought it from was straight up with me and I am very pleased to say it was a smooth transaction.

Your current shocks should have some numbers on them that a good parts store should be able to cross reference to new shocks.

You may find they work well if everything is cleaned and lubed and electrical connections are good. You will need to do the clean and lube even if you replace the motors, so the work won't be wasted. If you save the cost of the motors, you will find lots of places to spend the money.

This is the first ive heard about the ''Desert Fox'', how many were made and is theyre anything really different to them other then paint?

Thanks for all the comments. I plan on doing a frame off restoration but not going full blown cost way too much money will be blasting the frame and putting all new suspension with factory type lift (need help there need good source for leaf springs and shock lift kit to replicate factory height anybody know where to look pls send link) Will be replacing the rotted out bed with Oak of course and probably will be repainting the stripes. Other than that great to be aboard with you guys.

Never heard of them either to me it is just paint and some very special and very rare Hickey Enterprises parts.

That's correct. Welcome to the site, from central Indiana! We had a thread going over the truck when it was on the auction site you should check out. Several of us would have been glad to own it.

You should also check out BigBlock73's pages he mentioned. There's lots of great info in both places.
